You don't have to go far to see some amazing scenery in Utah County.  A five minute drive up Provo Canyon will reward you with views of several waterfalls, but Bridal Veil Falls is certainly the most spectacular.  Bridal Veil Falls is a double cataract waterfall of over 600 feet in height.  An overhead tram ran all the way above the falls until 1996 when a severe avalanche wiped out much of the operation.  Later in 2008  a fire destroyed the remains of the restaurant at the top and caused that the remaining cables had to be severed due to safety concerns.  None of this affects the natural beauty of this wonderful waterfall.  In fact, some might argue that it is better without the commercial aspect. There are many recreational opportunites nearby. You can hike up the falls and enjoy the mist on a hot summer day, climb the ice in the winter or just take some incredible pictures.  Of course, great fishing is nearby at the Provo River. Also, an excellent, paved trail runs just in front of the falls and is widely used for biking, walking, longboarding and rollerblading.  Bridal Veil Falls is truly one of Provo’s greatest treasures.
